Coates Bros. Roofing Explains Seamless Gutters – What they are and Why they work

January 20, 2021

If you’ve read any of our content, you’ve probably seen us talk about our sheet metal, seamless gutters. We’ve said many times how our high-quality gutters are custom measured and cut to fit your home or building, but what does seamless actually mean when it comes to gutters, and why is that so important? The gutter experts at Coates Bros. explained the top three benefits of seamless gutters and why they’re the better choice over gutters with seams!

1.       Seams can be potential leak points.

If a gutter is seamless, it means there is no point on the length of the gutter where the metal ends and is attached to a new piece. Those connection points cause the gutters to be more vulnerable to leaks! As we have seen many times, leaks can cause secondary damage that is both dangerous and costly, such as foundation and siding damage.

2.       Seamless gutters reduce the potential leak points in a gutter.

Just like potential leak points, a seam in a long gutter can be a potential location for gutter failure. Over time, a gutter seam can weaken. If a strong storm comes through, heavy snow and ice builds up or if the gutter becomes clogged and heavy, that seam might be a weak spot causing the entire gutter system to fail. Our number one rule is safety, and this damage can also be a safety hazard to your home and those who live in it!

3.       Less risk for costly repairs.

One of our priorities is providing the highest quality product at the best value. Repairs for damaged gutters can be expensive, but add further damage to your house to that bill and you could be looking at some hefty prices. Seamless gutters can help eliminate the potential dangers listed above, which can help you save money!
